Why Clients Bring Their Watches to Pelangi
A small, focused workshop where each piece receives direct attention from an experienced hand.
Careful Assessment Before Any Work
Each piece is examined before a service scope is agreed. Clients are always consulted if the work extends beyond the original estimate.
Realistic Turnaround Timelines
Lead times are stated clearly at the outset. Each movement or clock is given the time the work actually requires rather than a forced schedule.
Appropriate Parts for Each Piece
For vintage watches, period-correct or closely matched components are sourced where feasible, preserving the character of older calibres.
Timing Machine Verification
Regulation work is measured on a timing machine across positions. The result is documented, not estimated by feel alone.
Water Resistance Checked Where Applicable
Crown and stem work includes a water resistance check on suitable cases, confirming the seal after the new components are fitted.
Clear Communication Throughout
The workshop does not proceed with work beyond what was agreed without first speaking with the client. No surprises on collection.

Common Questions
A few things clients tend to ask before bringing in their piece.
Do I need to make an appointment to drop off my watch?
An appointment is not required but calling ahead is welcomed, particularly for mantel clocks, which are larger to transport. It allows us to set aside time to look at the piece with you on arrival.
How do you determine what a service will cost?
Prices listed are starting points. The final figure depends on the condition of the movement and any additional components needed. We discuss this with you before any work begins, so you can decide with full information.
Can you service vintage watches where parts are scarce?
We do work on vintage pieces and will attempt to source period-correct or well-matched parts where feasible. If sourcing proves difficult, we will explain the options available before proceeding.
What happens if the clock or watch needs more work than expected?
We contact you before extending the scope. The piece will not have additional work carried out without your agreement. You can always choose to collect it at the original agreed scope if you prefer.
How long will my mantel clock take to service?
Typically three to six weeks. This includes the service work, a run-in period of several days to confirm steady timekeeping, and any small adjustments before collection. Older movements may take longer, which we will advise at the outset.
Is movement regulation worth doing on an older watch?
Often, yes. Regulation alone can improve daily timekeeping considerably on a movement that is otherwise sound. If the examination suggests the deviation comes from wear that regulation cannot address, we will tell you before starting.
