The crown on my father's old Citizen had been wobbly for years and I kept putting it off. Razif looked at the keyless works as well and found some wear I had not noticed. He rang me before doing anything about it. The watch now winds and sets cleanly for the first time in probably a decade.

I brought in a Seiko 5 that was running about three minutes fast per day. After the regulation it is within a few seconds, which I checked over two weeks with a phone app. What I appreciated most was being shown the timing machine printout and having the rate explained to me. Not something you get everywhere.

My grandmother's French mantel clock had not struck properly in years. Nora serviced the movement and the clock now keeps excellent time. The run-in period they mentioned — I was surprised they actually kept it for nearly a week — gave me real confidence. I had expected it back in a day or two and was glad they were more careful than that.

I collect and wear vintage pieces and have had mixed experiences with repair shops. Pelangi was careful from the start — they looked at the movement, described what they could see, and gave me a figure before touching anything. The crown sourcing took some time but they found something period-appropriate. That matters to me.

My automatic was losing about ninety seconds a day. After regulation it is within ten seconds — which for a forty-year-old movement without a full service is, I think, a very decent result. Razif explained the difference between what regulation can and cannot achieve, and was upfront that the mainspring is getting tired. No pressure to spend more, just an honest account.

Brought in an anniversary clock that had not worked in years. The service took about a month and they kept me updated when additional pivot work was needed. The clock now runs well and strikes on time. Happy to have found somewhere that actually understands older movements.
A Few Pieces in More Detail
How the work unfolded on three different pieces brought to the workshop.
The Situation
1960s Swiss Lever with Lost Crown
The client inherited a watch with a missing crown. A generic replacement had been fitted at some point, did not match the original, and had damaged the stem threads.
The Work
The stem was replaced, a period-appropriate crown sourced through specialist suppliers, and the keyless works checked for damage from the original poor fit. A water resistance test was completed after reassembly.
The Outcome
The watch now has a crown that suits the case. The client noted that it winds and sets properly and looks as it should. Completed in four weeks. Starting price applied.

The Situation
Automatic Running 2–3 Minutes Fast Daily
A daily-wear automatic from the 1970s was gaining roughly two minutes per day. The client had been resetting it each morning and wanted to understand whether regulation was the right step.
The Work
The movement was placed on the timing machine in six positions. Significant amplitude variation across positions was noted. Regulator adjustment was made, followed by hairspring collet repositioning to improve positional variance.
The Outcome
Rate reduced to within twelve seconds per day across positions — a substantially better result than the movement's age might suggest. The client confirmed stable behaviour over three weeks of wear. Completed in ten days.

The Situation
Family Mantel Clock Silent for Eight Years
A German bracket clock had stopped running after a house move eight years prior. Two attempts at other repair shops had failed. The client was uncertain whether it could be returned to use.
The Work
The movement was fully disassembled and cleaned. Three pivot holes required bushing. The mainspring was replaced. After reassembly the clock was regulated and ran on the bench for five days, during which a minor adjustment to the pendulum suspension spring was made.
The Outcome
The clock runs and strikes correctly. The client reported it was keeping time to within two minutes per week, which Nora noted was within normal tolerance for the calibre. The bushing work was discussed and agreed before being undertaken. Completed in five weeks.
